We are getting older!

Michael turned 4 on Saturday, so we went to visit.
He opened his gifts in the morning.

Then he played with his new toys.

He had a choice of being taken to the zoo or the aquarium/beach. He chose the aquarium.

This was taken right before Isaac earned the nickname 'fish bait'.

We had time to walk on the beach. It's fabulous at low tide. This is a huge sand bar that stretched way out into the water.

Kathrine and Jon made a dandy firetruck cake.

Then there was a party for 2 boys!

Lots of people came. Isaac played with friends too.

The many faces of Anna

Anna was wanting to know how much she looks like Eli. After scanning loads of pictures of her in 1979-80, I thought I'd share. So, how much does Anna look like Eli?????

Great Run

As some of you know I have been planning to do a 5K run. I have never run in an organized run before. Since the Doctor said I needed more exercise to lower my cholesterol, I have started running. So I saw that Cobb County and Make-A-Wish Foundation were putting on a 5K on October 11.

I started training by lengthening my runs a bit at a time. When I was in Princeton running on the flat I got up to 1.5 miles. That is good for me, but the 5K would be over 3 miles. I stretched to about 2 miles on a few runs since I have been home and believed I could run further because I did not have sore muscles and did not feel totally spent of energy.

This morning Becky went with me to Marietta Square and there were over 2000 runners (including walkers). I got my number and was ready to go. It was quite an event with such a crowd. It was early and just getting light. We bunched up and the gun shot.
I did not come in first place, but I think I really did well. I ran about 90% of the course, (all except for some steep hills and a few sections of long inclines). I finished in about 32 minutes. I was expecting about 45 minutes. Wow, this is big for me! Thanks for everyone's encouragement.

Awesome Performance

Below is the First Place winning performance (of about six acts) at “GBI Has Talent”, held on Wednesday afternoon. I am singing with Tommy and Ken. The song is “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling”. The performance may be hard to hear, because the crowd went wild. It really did sound good.

I also sang a bit of “Maybellene” to fill in some time.

Old friends

Our slides are fading so fast! I'm glad I'm doing this project before they disappear completely. This is a typical gathering of old Maplewood 2 Ward friends in TX. It must be at Larry and Kendell's cause I recognize the round photo.

The guy on the right is something Nelson, right??
