Grandma Dot's birthday

Today is my mother's birthday and I am used to giving her a present. I think one of the nicest presents we can give her is to remember her. Here are just a few photos of her younger years...

With her sister Betty.

With a dog named Spotty.

Always a terrier!!

As I remember her.

Grandma told me one time that she was a "trend setter!" She said that one day she wore a feather in her hat and soon everyone was wearing them. She must have been on the leading edge of fashion. Seeing her in the picture with the Tarrier makes me believe it. (No wonder she was always into the designer clothes at those second hand boutiques!)

I don't think she was always on the leading edge of fashion, sometimes she just lucked out.

Grandma was still trendy when she was older. Whatever she collected at the time was always 'in'. Even the jewelry she started making at the end of her life is now really popular - lucky for us!
And - what is in for old folks is not what is in for youth. THink of the red hat society - that's her type.

That was really cool to see some pictures of her when she was younger. I never really thought she looked like Mom before this, but it's easier to see the resemblance in younger pictures. (and it really makes me wonder how much my appearance will change before I turn 70...)
